Saturday, May 16th, 1868

Three weeks out and no nearer Callao. This hot weather is really terrible and no wind besides incessant rain. On Thurs. night it was a perfect deluge. Capt. says he is pretty near done up. Today the weather is bright but still very hot, wind right ahead. Too much of a list to the ship to work on the machine. It is hard work to do anything this hot weather. On Thurs. we had a fish breakfast, one of the men caught some dolphin which was a great treat to us
